Around 562 hectares of grain-crops and legumes to be harvested in Penza region

Penza, 17 July 2014. PenzaNews. Around 562 hectares of grain and leguminous crops will be harvested by agricultural producers in the Penza region in 2014. “In addition to that, over 188 hectares of sunflower and over 44 hectares of sugar beet will be harvested in the region,” the press service representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry spokesperson added that currently harvesting-transport complexes and staff are being formed.

“At the beginning of this week, the levels of preparedness were 98% for combine harvesters, 97% for roll reapers, and 98% for truck scales. While the designed load for combine harvesters is 150 ha, most machines will have to work on the average of 361 ha each in the region, and in some areas the load exceeds 450 hectares,” the press service interlocutor said.

The ministry representative clarified that there are 1557 combine harvesters, 455 roll reapers, and 230 truck scales in the agricultural enterprises of different ownerships available.

“For all the work of harvesting and crop processing, as well as preparing the ground for the next year, they will require more than 35 thousand tons of diesel fuel and about 5 thousand tons of petrol,” the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region person noted.
