Penza, 5 August 2014. PenzaNews. “D-200” diesel engines of the new generation will be made at the new production site of “Penzadieselmash,” said the company’s CEO Vladimir Karpov during the visit of governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev to the plant on Tuesday, August 5.

“Construction of the ‘D-200’ prototype is underway as a part of the federal target program for the diesel engine construction in Russia, which is carried out by ‘Penzadieselmash’ and ‘Kolomna factory.’ Testing is scheduled for 2015,” Vladimir Karpov said.

He noted that the production of these engines will be successful regardless of the level of future cooperation with the American company General Electric.

“This is a very quick project. Penza is self-sufficient in order to quickly set up the production of “D-200” engines. This model is much more powerful than the ones we made before, and it also has smaller dimensions and weighs less. It will be used in shipbuilding and in the railway sector. This is the engine of a new generation,” Vladimir Karpov stressed.
