Governor Vasily Bochkarev personally reviewed the work during his visit to agricultural enterprise “Krasnaya gorka” in Kolyshleysky area on Tuesday, September 2.
Commenting on what he saw to the reporters, the head of the region said that out of ten sowing areas, harvesting began in Bekovsky, Kolyshleysky and Kamensky areas — croppage amounted to 35,6 thousand tons with productivity of 275 kilograms per hectare.
Vasily Bochkarev stressed that it is planned to collect up to 1,200 thousand tons of sugar beet this year.
According to him, it will cover the level of domestic consumption and allow the region to keep the export potential.
“Due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing during the period from May - June this year, the yield of sugar beet in the region is projected to be 300-350 quintals per hectare. By November, it is planned to collect 1,200 thousand tons, which will meet the demand for sugar of all branches of the food industry in the region and enable to export it to other regions of the country,” the press service of the government of the Penza region quoted Vasily Bochkarev.
