Penza region gross sugar beet harvest over 1 mln tons

Penza, 15 October 2014. PenzaNews. Gross sugar beet harvest in Penza region reached 1 mln 60,000 tons according to the data available on Wednesday, October 15, the press service of the regional Department of Agriculture told PenzaNews agency.

“33,700 ha of beet root have been harvested out of the total of 43,600 ha the agrarian workers have to work through,” the administration representatives clarified.

The ministry spokespersons added that the average sugar beet yield in the region was calculated at 135 quintals per ha.

“According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Penza region is the third highest region on sugar beet yield in the Volga Federal District,” the press service representatives noted.
