“The FAS committee found both sides need to provide additional information and evidence in order to ensure objective review of the issue,” Marina Goryacheva, press secretary of the regional FAS office, told PenzaNews agency.
The prosecutor’s office of the Penza region has registered a significant increase in sugar prices – from 23 to 43 rubles per kilogram – from October to December 2014.
In January 2015, the Penza region department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service opened a case against JSC “Atmis-Sakhar” in Kamenka town and JSC “Zemetchinsky Sugar Factory” in Zemetchino and accused the companies of breaking the federal antimonopoly laws on the grounds of information it received from the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to it, the violation consisted of an alleged deal that directly or indirectly led to an unjustified increase in prices.
