Penza, 11 February 2015. PenzaNews. JSC “Russian Space Systems” plans to create a unique center of competence in Penza as part of the space industry reforms. The center that will be located in its subdivision, JSC “Scientific Research Institute of Physical Measurement” (NIIFI), will develop standardized microelectronic detectors and physical measurement converters for launch systems and spacecraft.

The decision to found the center was made during the first session of the board of leaders of integrated space industry producers structure that was formed a week ago.

According to Andrei Tyulin, general director of “Russian Space Systems,” moving several production lines from other enterprises to Penza will allow to eliminate possible duplication of production.

“The modern intellectual and production capabilities of NIIFI will provide the Russian space industry with the best standardized solutions in detector hardware and piezoelectric sensors,” he stressed.

Moreover, the board of space industry leaders decided to expand representation of the enterprise and its unique qualities on adjacent public and specialized markets, such as car, railway, and oil and gas areas. According to plans, top-of-the-line technical and technological capabilities of NIIFI, along with its experience in development and application of space-oriented technologies, will make the enterprise a leader in its areas.

According to Alexei Dmitrienko, general director of NIIFI, production of high-quality details and hardware in the institute will improve its market competition expertise.

“We have all technical and technological capabilities for that, international-level development quality, excellent production discipline, reduced additional expenses, and we are using our labor resources highly effectively,” the press service of “Russian Space Systems” quotes Alexei Dmitrienko.

NIIFI is the leading piezoelectric technology company that produces one-of-a-kind detection and converter hardware, as well as measurement, control, diagnostics, monitoring, and emergency protection systems for space, air force and public vehicles. It is the only Russian enterprise that produces detector modules used by “Energomash” in RD-180 engines exported to the US for Atlas V launch systems.

The board of leaders of “Russian Space Systems” is a government body for the integrated space industry hardware producers structure that aims to execute balanced and deliberate control over the industry during its transition period and until a program of strategic reforms is laid out.

JSC “Russian Space Systems” specializes in development, creation and use of space information systems. Its main areas are production, development and actual use of GLONASS global positioning satellite system, space emergency search and rescue systems, weather measurement support, radio and technological equipment of scientific space research, as well as Earth-based reception and computation stations for the planet scanning program.
