They were also joined by Lidia Belyakova, head of the Pervomaisky city area administration.

According to Vladimir Karpov, a total of 300 workers will be gradually laid off by June 1, 2015.

He clarified the factory is currently employing 1,560 workers, and approximately 30–40% of workers that will be laid off are eligible for state pensions.

In his turn, the head of the region said the Penza authorities intend to help these people find new jobs.

“In particular, we will instruct the city organizations and the employment service to help their social standing. The Pervomaisky area administration will organize a job fair with potential re-education,” he added.

Afterwards, director of “Penzadieselmash” mentioned the enterprise worked with profits a year ago and plans to expand its production volumes, along with plans to hire more people by late 2015 – early 2016.

His company plans to produce completely new models of diesel generators, but present days require to slim down current staff, the press service of the Penza City Duma quotes Vladimir Karpov.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, another subordinate enterprise of “Transmashholding” group, the Bryansk Mechanical Construction Factory, has put a half of its staff on a two-month enforce leave due to financial issues. This information became public in early February.

According to them, the main reasons behind this decision are increased loan interest rates, steep increase in prices on used materials and details, as well as lack of contracts from “Russian Railroads,” the main client of the factory and the main buyer of train locomotives.
