Saratov, Rostov surpassed Penza in false flax seed production

Penza, 17 February 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region has been placed third in the region of false flax seed producing regions of Russia based on the 2014 levels.

According to the data published by “AB-Center” agricultural expertise and analysis center, the Saratov region is the key false flax production region in Russia, both in volumes and growing area. In 2014, it produced 33,400 tons of seeds, or 21.6% of all Russian bulk yield of the culture.

Among the top ten regions in false flax seed production were the Rostov region (14.9% of bulk yield), the Penza region (12.6%), the Volgograd region (11%), the Ulyanovsk region (8.1%), the Samara region (7.1%), the Lipetsk region (5.1%), the Voronezh region (3.9%), Bashkortostan (2.8%), and the Orenburg region (2.5%).

Overall, the 2014 bulk yield of false flax seed has surpassed the 2013 volumes by 21.7%.

The 2014 levels are 2.8 times larger than the 2012 results, and 4.4 times more than the 2011 ones.

At the same time, the growing area of false flax grew by 47.6% from 2013 to 2014, for a total of 268.1 thousand hectares.

This is 2.3 times more than the 2012 growing areas, and five times the 2011 ones.

According to information published on the official website of the Penza region government, false flax will be planted on over 50 thousand hectares of land in 2015, compared to 115 hectares in 2008.

In 2014, the Penza agricultural workers collected 20,300 tons of false flax seed, with an average yield of 700 kilograms per hectare.
