Penza, 30 March 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region has taken the first place in the Volga Federal District in cattle meat and by-products based on January 2015 statistics, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture told PenzaNews agency on Monday, March 30.

“The region has produced 7,100 tons of product,” they clarified.

According to the ministry, the region also leads in growth speed of milk production per cow in agricultural organizations (by 28.5%).

“The Penza region holds the second place in VFD in cheese and cheese goods production at 389 tons, 4.5 times more than January last year. Moreover, the region is also second in livestock growth tempo. The sales volume of companies working in agriculture, hunting and forestry reached 2.5 billion rubles, which also makes the Penza region second,” the press service said.

Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture added, the region has been the fourth in head growth of egg-laying chickens, and the fifth in cattle and poultry production by weight and by headcount.

“As of February 1, the average salary in agricultural organizations of the Penza region has reached 19,320.40 rubles, which is 16% over last year’s level, and the highest in the Volga Federal District,” the ministry noted.
