Penza region best in Volga Federal District in meat production

Penza, 8 December 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region was placed first in the Volga Federal District in production of meat and meat-related goods over the 10 months of 2015.

The production volumes increased up to 71,800 tons, which is 33.1% more than last year’s levels, the press service of the regional Agriculture Ministry informed PenzaNews agency.
“The region is also leading in production of cheeses and cheese products. Penza agrarians hold the second place in the VFD in increase of milk per cow production. It reached 11% in January-October 2015,” they added.
The Penza region is also the third in regards to milk production per milk volume, the officials elaborated.
“The growth was 11.6% in January-October. Also, the Penza region took the third place in regard to production increase for sausages and milk. The gross weight of produced meat cattle and poultry in all facilities is about 197,300 tons, which makes the region fifth in the VFD. Yet another fifth place of the Penza region is in increase of egg production in agricultural companies, 1.4% compared to January-October 2014. The Penza region is the sixth in the federal district in regards to the growth of cattle herd, and fourth in growth of sheep and goat herd,” the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
