Members of military-historical clubs of Russia to gather in Penza for “Field of Mars” festival

Penza, 20 July 2016. PenzaNews. The second Russian military patriotic festival “Field of Mars,” which will unite historical reconstruction clubs from different regions, will be held in Penza on 13-14 August.

The main objectives of the event, organized by the Russian Historical Society and the Penza club “Avanpost,” are preserving the cultural heritage and promoting patriotism among the youth.

“The festival will be dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the end of the Napoleonic wars, and the return of Russian regiments to the Penza guberniya, as well as to the heroic deed of general Nikolay Stolypin, commander of the Yamburgsky lancer regiment,” the head of the “Avanpost” club Tomas Yanchauskas, one of the festival organizers, told the news agency PenzaNews.

According to him, about 100 representatives of military-historical clubs from Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Samara and Voronezh will come to the camp, reconstructed in accordance with standards of the beginning of the 19th century, which will be located on the field near Budischeva proezd in the Shuist residential area.

“In the evening of Saturday, August 13, in the center of Penza there will be held a parade on Moskovskaya street and a ceremonial near the monument to Denis Davydov. Honor guard and flowers laying will also be organized,” the agency interlocutor said.

He added that the festival opening will take place on the field in the historical camp on Sunday, August 14.

“Dramatized reconstruction of the 1812 Patriotic War battle, involving cavalry, infantry and artillery will be presented. There will be an exemplary battle [which will last] for an hour,” the head of military-historical club said.

He noted that the program will be continued by performance of the ensemble of old Cossack songs and the brass band.

“Shopping stalls will be set, where one will be able to buy souvenirs. Free interactive platforms will also be functioning,” he said.

The head of the “Avanpost” club explained that the festival guests will be able to get acquainted with the work of Russian Army hospitals of those times, make a vintage haircuts, taste dishes of soldiers’ cuisine of the 19th century, see a reconstructed artillery position and even shoot from an infantry rifle or a gun.
