During the meeting with heads of regional and local media, organized in the Lermontov regional library, the question was raised by CEO TRC “Express” Stepan Parfenov, who proposed considering the possibility of exempting the media from value added tax at the national level.

“The question is not new. It is actually discussed in the Union of Journalists of Russia,” Vyacheslav Volodin said.

He reminded that the previous regulation had a specific expiration date of benefits.

“I would not give encouraging promises,” the first deputy head of presidential administration noted, drawing attention to the current problems in the economy.

However, Vyacheslav Volodin said that, despite all the difficulties, the state did not refused from any social obligations.
“Today there is no economic growth in order to discuss topics including the one you have voiced,” he said.

A few minutes later, Vyacheslav Volodin added that the issue still needed closer consideration.

“The subject needs to be discussed. It has grounds. The ways of assistance can be very different. Maybe we are knocking on an open door. [...] I agree that the topic is relevant,” he concluded.
