Three times as many professionals in clothing industry prepared in Penza region than before

Penza, 13 October 2016. PenzaNews. Education institutions of the Penza region began to prepare three times as many specialists for the clothing industry than before due to formation of the field-oriented cluster. This was reported by the head of the regional Ministry of Industry Mikhail Torgashin.

“The work [on formation of light industry cluster “Legprom”] started about 4 years ago when the first framework agreement on the cluster creation was signed. […] We were monitoring and it turned that people are sorely lacking. We made a decision in conjunction with the Ministry of Education – we have increased the enlistment of specialists for preparation work specifically in clothing industry three times. 3 years ago, there were about 35-40 graduates, whereas in the current school year 115 people finished studying,” he said during the roundtable meeting, which took place in the government of the Penza region on Thursday, October 13.

The minister added that it is planned that 85 more people will graduate next year.

Moreover, Mikhail Torgashin remarked that workers of the clothing industry have great opportunities for self-realization.
“Four years ago, there were uncoordinated enterprises that did not stand on feet confidently. Now we can say that products manufactured at Penza enterprises not look just worthy, they look better than worthy. The enterprises started sewing products under well-known and more expensive brands. It is no secret that there are some enterprises represented in Moscow boutiques with products manufactured in the Penza region,” he stressed.

The head of the regional Ministry drew attention to the fact that a serious step was the development of own collections, because previously, according to him, “we had nothing to bring to the market and show that we are from Penza.”

“At present, we have such an opportunity. And this umbrella brand, which is now being created under the auspices of the cluster, should move the appeared solutions into the market. I think this work will be continued and will produce its effect,” Mikhail Torgashin resumed.
