Penza, 27 December 2017. PenzaNews. New banknotes of 200 and 2,000 roubles, which had been put into circulation on October 12, 2017, were received in Penza. This was reported by Roman Tyunyaev, deputy manager of the Volga-Vyatka main department of the Bank of Russia in the Penza region.

He reminded that the symbols of the banknotes were chosen during all-Russian voting. As a result, the first to receive the new banknotes were the winning cities – Sevastopol and Vladivostok, as well as Moscow, Khabarovsk and Simferopol.
"Banknotes of 200 and 2,000 roubles are a legal means of payment mandatory for reception in the entire territory of the Russian Federation: in all shops and enterprises of after-sales service. I would like to note that these are not collection or souvenir banknotes. They will be issued by the Bank of Russia when necessary for cash turnover," the deputy manager explained.
Roman Tyunyaev paid special attention to the fact that it is unreasonable to buy the banknotes at a price higher than their value.
He noted that the introduction of any new banknote requires certain adjustments to ATMs and cash equipment, which takes some time.
"The preparation of our banking and cash equipment started in advance and full-scale work on its adaptation began after October 12 when market participants managed to get 'live' banknotes. This corresponds to the world practice as banknotes are developed in a strict secrecy regime, which is done to prevent counterfeiting," the representative of a Bank of Russia branch stressed.
Roman Tyunyaev expressed the opinion that the introduction of the banknotes of 200 and 2,000 roubles will significantly facilitate the order of payments.
As an example, he mentioned a situation when it is necessary to pay 4,900 roubles without change. Previously, at least nine banknotes were required: four banknotes with the nominal value of 1,000 roubles, one banknote of 500 roubles, and four banknotes of 100 roubles. Now one needs only five banknotes: two banknotes with the nominal value of 2,000 roubles, two banknotes of 200 roubles and one banknote of 500 roubles.
