Penza, 13 March 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza school No. 59 will hold the second regional school competition “History of Geographic Discoveries” on March 28.

Penza to hold school competition about first Antarctic expedition’s 60th anniversary

The competition is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first comprehensive expedition to the Antarctic, which involved the esteemed polar researcher Evgeny Suzyumov.

The contestants will have to face questions in geography, history and local lore, the chairman of the regional Russian Geographical Society branch Igor Pantyushov told PenzaNews.

“It will be held among 8-11 grade students from educational institutions of Penza and the region,” he clarified.
