Its main objective was to test the school’s readiness to employ the measures to save the lives of the school students and the staff in case of fire.
The children led by their teachers successfully evacuated the building in an organized fashion within a span of 3 minutes after the alarm.
The drill was a success, as the school staff showed great knowledge of the means to ensure children’s safety, the press service of the Penza region EMERCOM headquarters told PenzaNews.
“A school is one of the places that holds large numbers of people. Fires often lead to panic and congestion that could lead to children dying. In order to prevent that, we are holding evacuation drills that help people remain vigilant, concentrate only on what is necessary, and distribute the roles and responsibilities during the evacuation,” the department noted.
