Evgeny Troshin: Students’ mindset needs shaping before university

Penza, 2 June 2016. PenzaNews. The mindset of young professionals must be shaped well before their university courses through school professional orientation measures, according to Evgeny Troshin, Minister of Labor, Social Security and Demography of the Penza region, who expressed his opinion on the topic during the June 2 session of the gubernatorial supreme economic council on Thursday.

In an answer to the question by the governor Ivan Belozertsev about the comparison of the 2016 university graduates supply and the demand of organizations in new workers, such as seamstresses, engineers, truck and tractor drivers, the minister said that the answer cannot be provided with definite accuracy.
“It will cover the demand in numbers, but there can be issues with quality, as employers pays extreme attention to quality of new workers,” Evgeny Troshin pointed out.
According to him, many employers shun fresh university graduates with no work experience, and in the few cases against the rule they tend to work with them for brief time only.
“The students that go to universities do not realize full well yet if they really want to proceed in the chosen field […] and around 30-40% […] do not quite realize if they need it,” the minister said, explaining that the change in this situation would require significant effort.
