Penza, 1 September 2016. PenzaNews. The festive event with the participation of students and teachers of Penza State University, devoted to the Day of Knowledge took place in the reconstructed sports and cultural center “Temp” on Thursday, September 1.

During the summer holidays the former stadium was renovated, and equipped with stands for 3.5 thousand people.

At the beginning of the event, students held flashmob “I am a citizen of Russia” with a 30-meter tricolor filling the center of the arena.

Among the first to address the gathering was the governor Ivan Belozertsev.

“I want to sincerely congratulate you on the holiday — the Day of Knowledge, to congratulate freshmen who enrolled in one of the best universities in Russia,” the head of the region said.

He reminded that among high school graduates are managers of large enterprises, scientists, teachers, doctors and cultural workers.

Traditionally Ivan Belozertsev handed over the symbolic key of knowledge to the freshmen who received the maximum score on the USE — Yulia Romantsova and Anton Dyatlov.

Also, the greeting words to the students were addressed by the chairman of the Council of Rectors of the region, the rector of PSU Alexander Gulyakov.

“Today, we are opening a new school year once again. This day is a great start in the country of knowledge — knowledge, without which no society can survive. This knowledge is necessary for each of us and our state as a whole,” he said.

Alexander Gulyakov handed over the symbolic student document to the first-year students, twins Vyacheslav and Oleg Dashkevich.

Among those who congratulated the students and teachers of PSU with the beginning of the school year, was also the winner of the Olympic Games 2016 Denis Ablyazin, who is an alumnus of the university.
