Regional stage of “WorldSkills Russia” to be held in Penza region in February

Penza, 15 September 2016. PenzaNews. The regional stage of the championship “WorldSkills Russia” will be held in the Penza region on February 20-22, 2017 in the following areas: pre-school education, medical laboratory analysis, bricklaying, turning on CNC machines, cooking and confectionery, web-design, passenger car repair and maintenance, welding technology, restaurant service.

As the press service of the Ministry of Education of the region told PenzaNews, preparation of participants is already carried out in several colleges — the Penza versatile college, the food industry and commerce college, the basic medicine college, as well as at the enterprises.

“According to the results of the regional stage, the national team of the region will be formed, which will perform in the semi-finals of the championship of the Volga Federal District,” the department explained.

The ministry noted that in the framework of WorldSkills movement they established the regional coordination center. It lacks certified professionals so far, however, in December six representatives of the Penza region will receive certificates through the training program at the expense of the federal budget.

“They represent the five educational institutions: the Penza versatile college — turning on CNC machines and passenger car repair and maintenance, Nizhny Lomov versatile college — passenger car repair and maintenance, Mokshan agricultural technology college — electricity, Kamenka college of industrial technology and business — cooking skills, and Educational and technical center “Welding and control” —welding technology,” the press service informed.

The Penza region joined the WorldSkills movement in 2013. In four years, the students of the region became winners of national championships 10 times.

The teachers involved in training of young professionals and participating in the competitions as experts, went for training sessions in Finland and Germany. In addition, teachers have the opportunity to study the experience of colleagues from Yekaterinburg and the Moscow region.

In addition to informing the Penza region population about the WorldSkills movement, there is professional guidance among the high school students. A number of projects is aimed at popularization of working professions, among them — “From School to Workplace,” “PROsto professions,” “Gallery of Honor and Glory,” “Industrial Tourism,” “Education through Entrepreneurship.”

In 2016, the Penza region representatives — residents of Youth Innovation Creativity Center “NanoElektroLab” — took part in the “JuniorSkills” championship for the first time and won prizes in “Laser Technologies” department.
