Officials to persuade Penza students to return to native villages

Penza, 17 February 2017. PenzaNews. The vice-governor of the Penza region Valery Savin ordered the regional minister of education Alexander Voronkov to work out a schedule of meetings between heads of cities and areas administrations and their natives – college and university students, before the start of spring examinations.

According to him, the main objectives of such events are consolidation of labour force in rural areas and increase of the birth rate.
"I want this schedule to apply to heads and deputy heads on social and economic issues who have information about business, investors and so on. The meetings should be attended by heads of education departments who know everyone who graduated from school and entered a university," Valery Savin noted.
He emphasized that it is necessary to begin meetings as soon as possible – starting from 2-3-year students.
According to information of the Ministry of Education of the Penza region and Institute of regional development, only about 30% out of 10,688 people who graduated from school in 2013 and entered a university returned to the small motherland in 2016, the press service of the regional government reports.
