In particular, an unprecedented for the past weeks activity can be observed in the Arbekovo neighbourhood.
Thus, in one of the yards in Glazunova street there were two tractors whose drivers first tried to "cut" frozen ice mounds and then – to sweep broken pieces together with sand by a brush. In the end, they only "polished" the surface already slippery enough.
According to local residents, it would have been more effective to use the machinery in the beginning of the last week when a short-term warming came to Penza.
However, despite the fact that responsible persons knew about the coming cold, no measures to remove the slush from the yards were taken. As a result, the temperature below freezing point did its work and the slush of snow and mud got frozen turning roads into a bumpy ice rink.
A similar situation is observed in other areas of the city: workers of utility services and machinery can be seen at the places where they had not been seen for a week.
