Penza, 21 March 2018. PenzaNews. Implementation of the projects aimed at the improvement of the territories of Penza region settlements should be executed taking into account needs of persons with disabilities. Such a task was set by Governor Ivan Belozertsev.

"We need to create a truly accessible environment in which all citizens can feel equally comfortable. There are a lot of Penza citizens, who by virtue of their life situation are forced to spend much time at home, even though they would like to go outside, to walk, to attend events more often. We should take their needs into account – to make ramps at some places, in others – handrails, to equip dangerous pedestrian crossings with sound signals and so on," the head of the region said.

He noted that this would also facilitate movement of elderly people in a settlement.

As it was reported by the press service of the regional government, to date normative legal acts and decisions on the formation of urban spaces for people with limited ability were discussed in Sochi, Ulyanovsk, Samara, and Nizhny Novgorod.

The development of improvement concepts is carried out in the Penza region taking into account best practices. The next step will be the preparation of specific design projects.
