Penza, 1 April 2018. PenzaNews. The rain that replaced 1 April's snowfall aggravated a traffic situation in Penza: local flooding is observed in different districts of the city causing inconvenience for pedestrians and drivers.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the snow that had previously fallen was not removed from many streets before the temperature rose above zero.

Adverse weather conditions became a challenge for communal services and officials responsible for municipal management.

Despite a weekend, on Sunday, April 1, the Penza administration held a meeting with representatives of regional and local authorities. In particular, it was attended by chairman of the regional government Nikolai Simonov, its deputy Dmitry Semenov and mayor Victor Kuvaytsev.

Reporting on measures taken to eliminate the flooding, director of the municipal unitary enterprise Penzadormost Yuri Parastaev said that seven teams were working around the city.

"At present, they pump out water in Prospekt Stroiteley street near the shopping centre Lenta, at the intersection of Suvorova and Uritskogo streets, in Lvovskaya, Kalinina and Ternovskogo streets," he said.

In addition, according to the announced information, workers of the municipal enterprise work in Rostovskaya, Tukhachevskogo streets and at the entrance to the Sverdlovsky bridge.

According to EMERCOM department head Alexei Mikhailov, the municipal unitary enterprise has eight units of cleaning equipment, five units belong to Penzadormost, one – to the municipal state organization Teplosnabzhenie Goroda Penzy, eight – to Gorvodokanal. Penzenskaya Gorelektroset, Penzadieselmash and Energosnabzhayushcheye Predpriyatie have one unit of equipment each.

He added that communal services also possess 93 power pumps located in all district administrations and in some organizations, the mayor's office press service reports.
