Penza, 17 August 2011. PenzaNews. Unknown vandals spoiled the public garden near the monument "Provody" in Penza on Wednesday, August, 17th. According to preliminary data, the incident happened at two o'clock in the morning, all six lanterns on the territory of the garden were tumbled down, and three plafonds were stolen. According to the representative MUP, which is responsible for this public garden, it is not the first case — on August, 13th at night unknown persons had already damaged lanterns near the monument.

Now the operative group of the department of police №4 of Penza is working on the site and holding the investigations.

As the news agency "PenzaNews" informed earlier, in the end of 2010 the council of veterans of Pervomaysky District addressed to the chairman of the government of Russia Vladimir Putin with the request for the help in restoration of sculpture-memorial complex "Provody". After that 5 million rubles were allocated from the city budget so the pedestal of the monument was repaired and the accomplishment of the garden park was carried out.

The monument "Provody" located in the garden park on crossing of the streets Kuibysheva and Tambovskaya in Penza. During the Great Patriotic War there was an induction station and the 354th shooting division left for the front from this very place.

Now a solemn seeing-off of young defenders who is going to serve in the army is held there.
