The quantity of the registered crimes decreased by 8.4% in the Penza region

Penza, 21 September 2011. PenzaNews. 11.6 thousand crimes were registered on the territory of the Penza region in January – August, 2011 that is 8.4% less, than for the same period of last year. The general crime rate per 10 thousand people in the region is 77.2 crimes.

The press-service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Penza region said: "The quantity of heavy and especially grave crimes decreased by 4.8% (2420 cases), the number of murders and attempts of murder decreased by 7% (53 cases), the number of stealing of vehicles decreased by 23.3% (69 cases), the number of rapes decrease by 25% (30 cases)".

The number of the crimes committed in public places, domestic crimes and crimes in a state of alcoholic intoxication also decreased.

The press-service said: "This year 7306 crimes were solved. The percentage of criminal cases solved is 68,4%. The percentage of heavy and especially grave criminal cases solved, murders, rapes, swindles, thefts and robberies also increased".

At the same time, in the Penza region the number of inflictions of harm and thefts increased three times.

The press service said: "1107 road and transport accidents, 144 traffic fatalities have already happened this year. The quantity of injured people increased by 20.8% (1454 persons), the number of died people decreased by 7.4% (175 persons)".
