Penza, 24 October 2011. PenzaNews. The resident of Penza was condemned for the road accident where two pedestrians died.

Natalia Bychenkova, the Press Secretary of the Penza regional court said: "The court determined that in the morning on June, 19th, 2011 the driver of car "VAZ-21113", going along Kirov street, on the pedestrian crossing designated by traffic signs and road marking didn't reduced the speed while the bus in a following direction and passed pedestrians".

She noticed two female pedestrians, at the age of 64 and 71 died in the hospital.

She said: "During the court session the defendant admit his fault completely and explained that, he saw the pedestrians when they were 10–15 meters from the car and used emergency braking, however it rained heavily and small distance he didn't manage to stop the car. Having made the running-down he called for the "first aid". Besides, he compensated the caused material damage completely".

The court appointed the punishment in the form of 4 years of imprisonment in a colony-settlement and deprived driver’s license for 3 years.

Natalia Bychenkova summarized: "There was a cassational appeal but the court didn't satisfied it. The sentence became operative on October, 19th".
