Penza policeman, risking life, rescued pedestrians from the drunk driver

Penza, 26 October 2011. PenzaNews. Operative authorized officer of operational-investigative department on economic safety and counteractions of corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region, the lieutenant of police Konstantin Sernyaev will be encouraged for courage and competent actions which helped to save life of three pedestrians.

The press-service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Penza region said: “Konstantin Sernyaev was driving the office car “VAZ-2112” along the narrow road leading to the house №69 in Prospect Pobedy Street and noticed a car “Niva” which moved from one side of the road to another side”.

The press-service said: “Having noticed three pedestrians coming to the road, Konstantin Sernyaev made the decision, risking own life to make a collision with “Niva”. As the result of the accident, both cars got considerable mechanical damages. Pedestrians and drivers weren’t injured”.

According to the police officer, after the accident the driver of “Niva” offered money to solve the question without participation of inspectors of traffic police and after refusal behaved aggressively.

The driver of “Niva” said that he had drunk a bottle of beer before, however alcohol detection device showed 1.29 per thousand that is equivalent, at least, one bottle of vodka.

The press-service said: “It was found out later that some minutes prior the driver of “Niva” had run into car “VAZ-21113” in Titova street and disappeared from the site. As the result of collision the left fender of VAZ, driver’s and passenger doors were damaged. The eyewitnesses informed the owner of the damaged car about an inadequate driver of “Niva”.

The investigation is carried on.
