Treatment of the leader of hermits Peter Kuznetsov in mental hospital was prolonged for 6 months

Penza, 24 November 2011. PenzaNews. The head of the religious group which were taking cover underground in Bekovsky area of the Penza region in expectation of “doomsday” throughout half a year, Peter Kuznetsov will continue treatment in a psychiatric hospital of the general type within even 6 months. Such decision was taken out by Pervomysky district court of Penza on Wednesday, November, 23rd.

The press-service of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation said: “The senior assistant to the public prosecutor of Pervomayasky area of Penza supported the declared decision”.

Peter Kuznetsov has been treated involuntarily for chronic mental frustration — paranoia development of the personality.

As the news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, Peter Kuznetsov was the spiritual leader of 35 members of the religious group which went down in a cave near village Nikolsky of Bekovsky area of the Penza region waiting for “doomsday” in November, 2007. In the end of March and in the beginning of April 24 hermits left underground imprisonment because of ground collapses. Two women from this religious died in this shelter. In the middle of May the cave was left by the remained 9 hermits then on May, 20th it was blown up.

Kuznetsov was condemned according to part 1 article 239 of the criminal code of Russian Federation “Creation of the religious or public association, which activity is interfaced to violence over citizens or other tresspass to their health” and item 282 of the criminal code of Russian Federation “Enmity or hatred and the humiliation of human advantage”.

Five books, written by Peter Kuznetsov, were included in the federal list of extremist materials published by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the end of July, 2008.

The leader of hermits was sent to compulsory treatment according to the decision of Bekovsky district court in August, 2008.

The term of treatment of Peter Kuznetsov was prolonged due to the conclusion of doctors on September, 4th, 2009, on April, 7th, 2010 and on October, 20th, 2010. On May, 6th, 2011 Bekovsky district court refused satisfaction of the petition of the head physician of hospital to change compulsory treatment in a hospital to out-patient treatment of Peter Kuznetsov.
