Penza, 5 December 2011. PenzaNews. The inquiry department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Penza initiated the criminal case according to article 222 of the criminal code of Russian Federation “Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of the weapon, its basic parts, ammunition and explosives” upon detection of an explosive in criminalistics center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region on December, 4th.

The press-service of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region said: “At 01.20 Moscow time on Sunday, on December, 4th the police officer informed that the polyethylene package with a cardboard box wound with an adhesive tape was found out on the territory of criminalistics center”.

Investigatory-operative group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Penza, cynologists with guard dogs and bomb-disposal experts arrived immediately and organized the security cordon.

The press-service said: “At 02.47 the improvised explosive device was neutralized. The weight of contents of the box was 2.6 kg, presumable capacity of the device was 2.3 kg in TNT equivalent”.

Now investigation proceeds, the persons involved in the given crime are established.

The press-service said: “Article 222 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation provides imprisonment for the term up to 4 years with the penalty up to 80 thousand rubles”.
