Penza, 13 December 2011. PenzaNews. The public prosecutor of Sursky area of the Ulyanovsk region directed materials to investigatory department concerning criminal prosecution of the 35-year-old businessman from Penza Oleg Karnin who organized paid public display of films in 3D format.

The press-service of the department said: “Office of Public Prosecutor established that demonstration of an animated film “Tangled” and film “Resident Evil: Afterlife” by means of mobile cinema was held in the regional recreation centre without corresponding contracts of theatrical distribution with the owner of intellectual property rights”.

Besides, it was established that this illegal activity was realized on the territory of settlements Nikolaevka, Market Syzgan, Maina, Pavlovka, Old Kulatka, Radishchevo, Kuzovatovo and Jazykovo.

It caused more than 350 thousand roubles damage to the rightholders LTD “Walt Disney Company CIS” and “Aktivizhen”.

The Office of Public Prosecutor said: “The criminal case was initiated according to item “в” part 3 article 146 of the criminal code of Russian Federation “Illegal use of objects of the copyright in especially large size” which provides punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term up to 6 years. All equipment for reproduction of films in format 3D cost more of 1.5 million of rubles was withdrawn”.
