Penza, 12 January 2012. PenzaNews. Penza Regional Court has upheld the sentence of a resident of Bessonovskiy district Tatyana Guseva who was found guilty of committing heavy fraud.

Press secretary of Penza Regional Court Natalya Bychenkova told news agency PenzaNews: “The Court found that Tatyana Guseva had made up her mind in summer 2011 to steal money from the saving accounts of a woman she knew. She misled two head cashiers at the bank by passing off as a granddaughter of the aggrieved party and claiming that her grandmother was at a hospital in Tolyatti and asked her to withdraw money from her accounts to cover the cost of surgery.” She also added that the cashiers had given the fraud over 532 thousand rubles in total.

“The fraud was revealed when the aggrieved party came to the cashier’s desk to check the amount of interest on her deposits but was told by the cashier that the accounts had been closed and all money withdrawn,” noted Natalya Bychenkova.

These facts gave rise to a criminal case which was considered by Bessonovskiy District Court. The Court sentenced Tatyana Guseva to 2.5 years of deprivation of liberty (to be served conditionally) with a 3-year probationary period.

“However, the aggrieved party who considers the sentence too lenient filed a cassation appeal which the judicial panel for criminal cases of Penza Regional Court has not satisfied because the defendant admitted guilt, repented and partially compensated for the damage,” summed up the Court’s spokesperson.
