Penza, 12 January 2012. PenzaNews. Police officers in Penza confiscated a five-ruble coin which appears to have been forged.

A representative of the press-service of the Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation said in an interview to news agency PenzaNews: “A complaint about the counterfeit coin came from the head cashier at one of the banks on Wednesday, January 11. According to the complainant, she discovered it when counting the money in a bag containing 1000 five-ruble coins.”

The press-service also explained that the weight and colour of the confiscated coin are different from the original in that the metal is soft, the milled edge is badly made, and there are two water drop shaped defects on the obverse side of the coin.
