Penza, 8 June 2012. PenzaNews. Law enforcement officers of the Penza region destroyed about six kilograms of hashish worth about 9 million rubles at one of the factories of the city on Thursday, June 7. The drugs, which were burned in industrial furnaces, were confiscated in the course of the 2011 operational activities to apprehend a criminal group planning to sell a prohibited narcotic substance in the territory of the region.
“Drugs of organic origin and very high quality began to enter the region two years ago. Hashish was labelled by a brand of the organization which had produced it. Facts of the drugs distribution were recorded in the region,” said the representative of the department of Federal Security Service of Russia for the Penza region.
He noted that the officers carried out a number of operational activities aimed at defining a group of persons practising illegal activities.
“Besides residents of the Penza region and Mordovia it included citizens of Moldova and several members of law enforcement agencies of the central apparatus who unchecked imported drugs in the region. In February 2011 the criminal group members were detained in the territory of the Penza region, Mordovia and Moscow,” the interlocutor of the agency said.
Judge of Narovchat District Court announced the verdict against the persons involved in the criminal case on 5 April 2012. Five people were found guilty and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment: from 4 to 7 years in colony with a strict regime.
