Life imprisonment for killer of 8-year-old schoolgirl from Kuznetsk

Penza, 15 June 2012. PenzaNews. The prosecutor of Kuznetsk of the Penza region agreed with the criminal case on the grounds of the legally defined crime under subsection “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation “The murder of underage, known to the perpetrator to be in a helpless state,” in respect of a local resident, born in 1989, who fraudulently lured the 8-year-old girl to his home, assaulted her, and then strangled.
“This type of crime is penalized with 8 to 12 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment,” commented Senior Assistant of Prosecutor of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova. She noted that the prosecutor of Kuznetsk took the criminal investigation under personal control.
As previously reported, a resident of Kuznetsk of the Penza region is suspected of murdering a child. According to preliminary data, on June 12, 2012 in the evening an 8-year-old girl without parents’ supervision was going home from a holiday event. On the way, she met a 23-year-old local resident who fraudulently led her to his home, strangled her and committed sexual assault.
In order to hide the evidence of the crime the suspect hid child’s body into the lower compartment of the couch and left the crime scene.
Currently, the perpetrator is detained, the investigator discusses the charges against him, and the direction of a court petition on measures of restraint in the form of detention.
