Train hits 7-year-old girl in Penza

Privolzhsky investigation department of transport is conducting a pre-investigation check under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the fact of injury the girl got on June 26, 2012. “The girl was struck by a freight train at about 14.30 Moscow time on the 708th km of railway section “Penza-I – Arbekovo.” The child who got multiple injuries and fractures was brought to the hospital. At 20.30 June 26, 2012 the girl woke up from coma. Doctors are fighting for her life now,” Senior Assistant Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Dmitry Zakharov told news agency “PenzaNews.”

“The inspection revealed that the injured girl was going home from a day camp of the school No. 18 with her 12-year-old sister. Crossing the railway lines, the girl did not get a sight of an approaching train. She did not manage to run away,” he added.
According to him, the driver of the train blew the whistle, used alarm lights and applied emergency brake but could not avoid the collision.
“The girl’s sister is in shock. Psychologists are working with her,” emphasized Dmitry Zakharov.
According to the results of the investigation, a procedural decision will be taken.
