Crime rate in Penza region decreased by 12% over past six months

Penza, 11 July 2012. PenzaNews. More than 6,6 thousand crimes were reported in the Penza region during the first half of 2012, which is 12% less than during the same period of 2011. This report came from the Department for crime prevention and cooperation with law enforcement authorities of the regional government on Wednesday, July 11.

Juvenile delinquency dropped by 26,3% – from 186 to 137 cases in the Penza region over the past six months of 2012.

“The crime rate per 100 thousand people in the Penza region remains among the lowest in the Volga (Privolzhsky) Federal District, as well as in Russia as a whole, and makes up 515,5 crimes. Throughout the country the number is 817,6, in the Volga region – 798,3,” specified in the Department.

According to the “Safety Rating of Russian Regions,” prepared by the analytical agency “Smyslografiya,” in the end of 2011 the Penza region is the safest in the country.
