Chairman of District Election Committee convicted in Penza region

Penza, 13 July 2012. PenzaNews. Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office of Kamenka has supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against the resident of Kamensky district, the Penza region, who performed the duties of the chairperson of the Election Committee at one of the local stations during the presidential elections in the Russian Federation.

“The woman was found guilty of civic peculation,” explained Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Penza region Yuliya Makarova.
According to her words, the accused was entrusted with the money for committee activities and remuneration of committee members in the total amount of 37,550 rubles. The accused peculated 22,61 thousand rubles.
“The woman was found guilty of an offense under Part 3, Art. 160 of the Criminal Code “Theft of another’s property entrusted to the perpetrator, using his official position.” The woman was sentenced to two years of imprisonment suspended for a probationary period of 1,5 year,” reported the agency interlocutor.
“The Court also decided to charge her with the full amount of stolen money,” summarized Yuliya Makarova.
The sentence has not been brought into force yet.
