Penza student diagnosed meningitis fell into coma

Penza, 30 July 2012. PenzaNews. Penza 14-year-old student of School No. 77, who was diagnosed meningitis after a weekend at Sura reservoir, is currently in a coma. This was announced by the deputy minister of Health and Social Development of the Penza region, Pavel Degtyar during a press conference on Monday, July 30.

“Teenagers, who had contact with the boy, are under constant supervision. Twice a day they have the temperature of the body measured; doctors examine them for the symptoms,” he added.

Pavel Degtyar reported that the first symptoms of the disease — fever, nausea and vomiting — were noted by the adults on Thursday, July 26, but for two days they kept trying to treat the boy without professional help.

“On Saturday, the boy’s parents took him home, after which he was hospitalized in the regional children’s hospital named after N.F. Filatov, where he is still kept,” he clarified.
