Penza resident transferred more than 660 thousand rubles to tricksters’ accounts

Penza, 14 August 2012. PenzaNews. A resident of Oktyabrsky district of Penza became a victim of fraud transferring more than 660 thousand rubles to the accounts of tricksters.
“According to the victim, in March this year she received a phone call from an unknown person who introduced himself as an employee of Moscow compensation center. This person told her that she can get compensation of 184,000 rubles for the unit of electromagnetic therapy Deta which the woman bought for 15,300 rubles in 2009. To get the money, the woman had to transfer 10% of the amount of compensation for the payment of taxes,” the press service of the regional Office of Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation told news agency “PenzaNews.”
In early March, the woman transferred the said amount. After that the unknown called her back and asked to make additional transfers because of increased costs.
“In the period from March to August 2012, the woman made transfers totaling 664,820 rubles. An inquiry into this case is being conducted. Police is searching for the intruders,” added the press service.
