Penza resident to spend 1 year 4 months in prison for theft of 6 bottles of beer

Penza, 4 September 2012. PenzaNews. Penza Regional Court upheld the judgment of Oktyabr District Court of Penza, according to which a resident of the city was found guilty of an attempt to steal another person’s possessions.
“The court found that the drunk man had stolen six 1.5 liter bottles of beer (64 rubles each) from the store “Producty” in Ladozhskaya St. The shop assistant who witnessed the crime asked him to return the bottles but the man tried to escape. After that the woman caught and detained the offender,” press secretary of Penza Regional Court Natalia Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”
According to her, Oktyabr District Court of Penza took into account the man’s confession and sincere repentance, as well as the presence of a young child, and sentenced him to 1 year 4 months of imprisonment in a penal colony.
“The convict appealed the sentence but Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases of the Penza Regional Court dismissed the appeal and upheld the conviction,” she concluded.
The sentence came into force.
