Criminal case against Marat Faizov transferred to Prosecutor of Penza region

Penza, 14 September 2012. PenzaNews. Investigation Department of Investigation Committee of Russia for the Penza region completed the investigation of the criminal case against Former Deputy Prime Minister of the Penza region – Minister of Agriculture Marat Faizov, accused for two large-scale bribery cases. As the Senior Assistant of the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division, Lyudmila Fomina told news agency “PenzaNews,” sufficient evidence against the accused was gathered, so the criminal case was transferred to the Prosecutor for confirmation of the indictment and the subsequent transfer to the court.

“Part 5, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code provides for a penalty of a fine of up to 90-fold the amount of the bribe or imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with disqualification to hold certain posts or practice certain activities for up to three years and with a fine of 60-fold the amount of the bribe,” she explained.
As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, according to investigators, on March 20, 2012 the accused, being in a car on a road “Saratov — Nizhny Novgorod” near Kolyshleyka of the Penza region, received 200 thousand rubles bribe from the chief of a company as an illegal compensation for general protection and illegal actions in favor of the company’s leaders.
Marat Faizov was arrested red-handed by officials of the regional offices of Federal Security Service of Russia and Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the investigation established the fact of another bribery. In 2011, the director of the said company gave the former Minister of Agriculture a bribe of 400 thousand rubles for the same actions in favor of management of the commercial structure.
During the course of investigation, the accused did not confess to the crime.
