Investigation of mass death of fish held in Penza region

Penza, 2 October 2012. PenzaNews. Officers of the Ministry of Forestry, Hunting and Nature of the Penza region, and the Center of laboratory analysis and technical measurements are investigating the cause of mass death of fish in the reservoir at river Kamenka by village Kolyupanovka, the Penza region.

“The committee confirmed death of aquatic biological resources. It counted dead reservoir fish, among which are carps, perches, gudgeons, bleaks and bitterlings, examined the possible sources of contamination, took water samples to determine the concentration of pollutants,” reported the press service of the Ministry of Forestry in the region.
The ministry noted that visual inspection of LLC Ardymsky spirtzavod (distillery) neighborhood revealed traces of unauthorized waste production dumping.
“The amount of distillery waste dumped into the river from the waste storage will be determined in the course of administrative investigation, brought up by the Russian Fishing Office of the territory management of middle Volga in the Penza region,” the press service explained.
