95 people convicted of corruption in Penza in 9 months of 2012

Penza, 18 October 2012. PenzaNews. 95 residents of the Penza region were convicted of corruption for the past 9 months of 2012.

“Most of them were found guilty of fraud by using their official position, of giving or taking bribes, or of appropriation of entrusted funds,” reported the press service of the Prosecutor's Office in the region.

The ministry clarified that corruption crimes were committed by ten police officers.

“In addition, five medical workers, four teachers of universities and secondary specialized educational institutions, two heads of village councils, two lawyers, a bailiff, and an inspector of Russian engineering supervision service were convicted on the same grounds,” added in the press-service.

The ministry noted that 48 people were sentenced to imprisonment on probation, and 3 defendants were actually imprisoned.

“40 people paid a fine ranging from 5,000 to 450,000 rubles. Additional penalty in the form of deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or perform certain activities was assigned to 21 persons,” concluded in the prosecutor's office of the Penza region.
