Penza, 24 October 2012. PenzaNews. A case on administrative violation of one kilometer-long illicit dump smoldering in the city in micro-district Zarya was filed under Part 1, Art.20.4 of the Administrative Code “Firefighting measures violation.”

According to the press service of General Management of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, at present two firefighting crews work in this area.

“Garbage has been smoldering on the territory of 200 square meters since Monday, October 22. The area is covered with thick smoke. Firefighters work there to prevent the fire,” the Ministry said.

The press service clarified that most of the dump is wooden waste, including sawdust and shavings.

“Smoldering starts over and over again, so it is expected that firefighting crews will continue working on the site for a few days,” explained the Ministry.

The search of people responsible for illicit dumping is still on.
