Investigation of murder committed 16 years ago resumed in Penza

Penza, 15 November 2012. PenzaNews. Criminal case filed in Penza in February 1996 under Part 1, Art. 103 of the Criminal Code of RSFSR “Premeditated murder” was resumed.
“According to the investigation, on February 23, 1996 around 23.00 a young couple was on the way home. In Kulakova St a stranger began bothering the girl, he later took a shotgun out of his car VAZ 2108 and fired into the ground. When the young people tried to leave, the offender shot the young man on the head from behind and fled. The victim died in hospital two months later,” informed the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division, Lyudmila Fomina.
She added that the law enforcement officers could not locate the offender for a long time. However, later it was found that the suspect had lived in Nizhny Novgorod without documents for 16 years, and in October 2012, he was arrested.
According to Lyudmila Fomina, the man did not plead guilty, and refused to testify.
“Currently, the criminal investigation is on to establish all the circumstances of the crime,” she concluded.
