Heads of area traffic police department and Ministry of Internal Affairs accused in Penza

Penza, 22 November 2012. PenzaNews. The accusation of committing a crime under paragraphs a, b, c, Part 5, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code “Bribe taking” was brought against the head of the department of traffic police and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Belinsky area, the Penza region.

“As a result of activities undertaken by the members of the regional offices of the Federal Security Service and the Investigative Committee of Russia, it was established that in January 2012, the heads of departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the traffic police department in Belinsky area entered into a criminal collusion to get a large bribe from the individual entrepreneur,” commented the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division, Lyudmila Fomina.

She specified that the defendants, using their authority demanded from the businessman a regular bribe in the amount of minimum 25% of the income threatening to interfere with his business of digging out and selling reclamation system metal pipes in Belinsky area, the Penza region.

“On November 15, 2012 around 13:00 the head of traffic police department in Belinsky area received from the businessman a 180-thousand-ruble bribe via his agent, a certain sum of that money was supposed to be handed over to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belinsky region,” the agency interlocutor added.

According to Lyudmila Fomina, currently at the request of the investigator the accused are taken into custody.

“The investigation is ongoing,” she underlined.
