Penza, 7 December 2012. PenzaNews. 3,7 thousand violations of anti-corruption law were revealed by the prosecutor’s office of the Penza region since the beginning of 2012.

“120 people were convicted of corruption-related crimes, including bribery, power abuse, peculation,” informed the Senior Assistant Attorney of the region Yuliya Makarova.
She recalled that guilty verdicts were pronounced in respect of the former deputy chairman of the government – Minister of Agriculture of the Penza region Marat Faizov, the head of the regional department of the Federal Service of Bailiffs of Russia Nikolai Andreev, four officials of state and local governments, as well as ten police officers and two lawyers.
“Five people were sentenced to actual imprisonment, 57 people were sentenced to suspended imprisonment. 50 fines in the amount of 5 thousand to 450 thousand rubles were imposed. In addition, 25 people were appointed an additional penalty in the form of deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or perform certain activities,” the agency interlocutor explained.
Yuliya Makarova stressed that the struggle against corruption involves activities increasing sense of justice among the citizens.
“Anyone can write a statement about corruption on the official website of the prosecutor’s office of the Penza region. For example, a resident of the neighboring region complained about the actions of traffic police officers of the intermunicipal traffic police department “Luninsky” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, who tried to extort money when he passed through the Penza region. As a result, the traffic police officers were detained for bribery. According to the decision of the court, they were sentenced to a fine of 129 thousand rubles, lost the right to occupy official positions,” the representative of the ministry pointed out.
