Penza, 19 December 2012. PenzaNews. The traffic police inspector was seriously injured during the arrest of a driver of Opel Vectra in Bessonovsky area, the Penza region.

According to the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the car pursuit started when the driver refused to stop at the request of the police officer.

“Trying to escape, the driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree. When the police inspector approached the car, the driver suddenly started moving in reverse, hit the traffic police officer and “dragged” him around 20 meters along the road,” the department explained.

As a result, the traffic police officer has a bruised chest, a closed fracture of the left forearm, a closed head injury and concussion.

“The driver of Opel Vectra also was injured during the collision. According to the preliminary data, he was in a state of intoxication at the time of the accident. The fact is under investigation and further actions will soon be undertaken. The intoxicated driver may be sentenced to actual imprisonment,” stressed the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
