Detainee died suddenly in police office in Penza region

Penza, 26 December 2012. PenzaNews. A man, born 1956, who was arrested for failure to pay an administrative fine in the course of the preventive operation “Debtor,” and delivered to the police office on Tuesday evening, December 25, died early Wednesday, December 26.

“The detainee was taken to a duty police office at 22.00. Two administrative reports were drawn — for belated penalty payment and about the administrative detention,” reported the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews.”
The ministry clarified that at 6.00 on Wednesday, December 26, police officers were inspecting the detention room, where the arrested men were held. During the inspection none of the detainees complained about their health.
“During the next inspection at 06.10 a police officer found one of the detainees with signs of epilepsy, he immediately called an ambulance, and began giving first aid. However, the detainee died before the arrival of the medical professionals, who came at 6.35,” the press service added.
According to the police, the man abused alcohol, did not work, had never been accused before.
“The heads of regional and city administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and experts visited the scene with inspection: no visible signs of violent death were found. The fact is investigated,” stressed the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region.
