Resident of Zarechny detained for trying to hit police officer with knife

Zarechny, 14 January 2013. PenzaNews. A man, born 1983, previously convicted of murder, was taken into custody for attempting to stab a policeman in Zarechny, the Penza region.

“The detainee was released from prison in August 2012, after which he was set under administrative supervision. Last Saturday, January 12, the district police officer arrived at the place of residence of the man to see if he complies with the restrictions imposed by the court, and is at home during the period from 22.00 to 6.00. The host, being drunk, tried three times to stab the police officer, threatening to kill him, the police officer had to use physical force and special means against the attacker,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Penza region reported in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that further action would be taken in regard of the man within the statutory period of time.

“He faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years,” the press service explained.
